On 9-11 I left for Colorado because of a conference, some business I had to accomplish with a pastor and missionary, and to top it all off to take a couple of days to myself before going home.
As I started my journey, I was enjoying the ride and the scenery that I had not seen in awhile as I travel up Hwy. 287 towards my destination. While the viewing of the scenery was going on I also had the radio on listening to a station and it seemed to make the drive more pleasurable with noise in the car but soon I noticed something on the radio. Every once in awhile there would be more static than music, then the music was back as if it had never left. The problem reoccurred several times and then I noticed that the farther I moved away from where I started the more static I was getting until there was more static than music.
I believe that is the way Christianity is. We start out next to the source, where the signal is the strongest and soon (Sometimes to soon) we begin to wonder away from the source and the signal gets weaker. If it gets to weak we either look for another source or just stay away from the source all together. Both are wrong.
This Friday I will be back within ranger of the source that plays the music I love to hear. That refreshes my soul. That causes me to sing. I will also be back to my source of worship as well. The place for me that is my source by which I can get my signal/strength to walk for the Master. I will be back at my church, around people that refresh me and around a message that gives me hope.
There are many who say they don’t need church. That is somewhat like saying you don’t need Jesus. You see the church was the institution Jesus built and established so that we can get refreshed, but to many times it has become a whipping post and people have become sour to it because of some people or some pastor, but in my view it is still the institution that Christ built and even though it is not once what it was, It still belongs to Him. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
I think I will do just that.
I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. Psalm 122:1
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. Psalm 92:13
