I was not sure when I wrote this whether I wanted to put it under the sermons or the blog category. This one thing I do know is that if we are to live for Christ we must be Crucified with Christ if we are ever to live a life pleasing to Christ.
I Have Been Crucified
There is nobody that I know that would ever want to be crucified. It is a horrible death, yet Jesus gladly went to the cross and allowed Himself to be crucified because the wrath of God for sins sake needed to be appeased. PTL!
There they crucified Him! Wow what a powerful statement. We don’t think about crucifixion much unless we here about it in a sermon and then it is for most a fleeting thought. Is it not?
According to the Bible there was one who took up the thought and apparently it invaded his thought process from time to time if not often. Paul set down with quill in hand and he dipped it in the ink and begin to write to the citizens of Galatia and when he gets to a certain part of the book he wrote these words…
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians
While many run from the cross because of what it represents in our life, Paul ran to the cross. Many run from it because they do not want to endure the pain that comes with the crucifixion but can I suggest from Galatians 2:20 that there is more to the cross than we care to give thought to?
So, what does it mean to be and even to live the crucified life? Let us examine that in this
I know that crucifixion will bring a very narrow life. Jesus mentioned that in Matthew 7:14, “…strait
When we decide to follow that way we also find that the way of the cross and crucifixion is also a lonely life. Who want to hang out with somebody who is being crucified? Jesus once again tells His followers that this narrowness will lead to us making some decisions in our life that will hurt. He said it this way,
That was rather harsh but Jesus I find is right. There comes a time in my life that I had to leave my former life and follow Him and it required sacrifice, but as I got into the word I found that new life came and it was then I realized that the crucified life is found in the Word.
Second, I want you to notice that…
In God’s Word we find CHRIST!
We find His ways
His desires for us
His love for us
In Christ we find abundance.
If we remain faithful even in hard times we will find that God
Third, I want you to notice that…
Faith is the ability to see the unseen.
By our hands.
We struggle with faith because of what it is… Trusting in the unseen. That which has never been seen by our human eye’s. That is hard but I find the more I trust Jesus the more I see. The Bible says those who don’t have a relationship with Jesus will never understand.
Paul put it this way in Romans 1.
Paul goes on to solidify this thought in
To us that are saved and have a relationship with God through the Son we now understand and we understand because we draw close to God and in that process, we now see things that were not seen. This is called FAITH!
If we are to walk worthy of Christ let us as a new generation of believers
